Transitional States, by Banu Cennetoglu
NºC Magazine featuring Hussein Chalayan

Returning to her cultural homeland of Turkey, photographer Banu Cennetoglu documented the abstract fashion story ‘Transitional States’, shot on location on the GAP hydroelectric development in Urfa, Turkey. Banu lets the fashion take a backseat in her wide vistas, with the garments of upcoming designers such as Veronique Branquinho, Junya Watanabe and Jessica Ogden barely recognisable in the majestic concrete environs. However small and unidentifiable they are, the important choice of designers and their pieces loses no substance due to scale; with the blanket folds of a dark Junya Watanabe coat or the lightness of a Veronique Branquinho blouse echoing local costume and an intrinsic ethnic inspiration within the garments. Read below as Banu tells her story of the land.
